Becca de Lovegno (CH), 3 January 2009

2 January 2009, Ewa, Charlotte and me, go back do Mase to visit Valerie and Yannick. The next day we plan to get the summit of Becca de Lovegno on skis. For Charlotte it will be the first high-mountain ascent.

We start in the forest with the sunrise. There are no sun rays as they are blocked by a high mountain ridge.

Bloody cold, about minus 10 degrees. No sun, freezing fingers. A cup of hot tea cheers us up.

There is still no sun. We trace the path in deep snow.

2.5h of climbing. The sun still remains blocked by the ridge of Pte de Masserey (2841).

Approaching to the illuminated ridge.

We finally get warm sun rays.

From this moment, we continue the walk in the warming sun.

The lightened ridge of Luchelette (2390m).

Tea break next to La Maya (2692m), 20 min before reaching the Lovegno pass.

Finally we rode down on the steep north face of Becca de Lovegno in deep snow. Delicious. Unfortunately, the camera had to stay in the rucksack.
